Obituary

Everett Moses Carder, 97 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

On January 20, 1917, he was the first-born to Robert C. Carder and Zelma May Prowant in Putnam County, Monroe Township, Ohio.

Helen Proxmire of Cecil, Ohio, became his wife on March 25, 1942, in a parsonage of Rev. W. H. Shepper, Defiance, Ohio.

His wife, father, mother, brother Forest and sister Mildred (Herbert) Devers and son-in-law, Robert A. Andrist preceded him in death.

He is survived by daughters, Nancy Andrist and Janie Kohout both of Defiance, Ohio, as well as sister-in-laws, Florence (John) Proxmire, Olive Dean Carder-Wilson of Florida and nieces and nephews.

He was a life-long farmer in his heart even after moving to Defiance in 1958 to become the Bender Dept. Foreman at the Arnold Haviland Co until the company closed in 1982.  Everett's nickname was the "Energizer Bunny."  He was always busy doing something until late 2012 when his health started to fail.

Many years of his life were dedicated to the Lord and he held various positions while attending to the Lord's work at Rose Hill Church of God, Paulding; First Church of God, Defiance; Auglaize Chapel Church of God, Oakwood; Cornerstone Church of God, Defiance; and most recently attending services at Second Baptist Church, Defiance, Ohio.

Visitation will be one-hour (10-11 am) before the service in the chapel of Riverview Memory Gardens at County Road 424, Defiance.  The service will be conducted by Rev. Max Begley of Second Baptist Church at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Riverview Memory Gardens on Monday, June 9, 2014.

In lieu of flowers, memorials In Everett's name are requested to the Second Baptist Church or Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, is in charge of arrangements.
