Eugene D. Taylor, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Center in Defiance, Ohio.
He was born on January 10, 1938 to Fred and Lula (Sell) Colwell of Bowling Green, Ohio. In 1959 he married Shelby J. (Shock) Taylor, who proceeded him in death in 1993.
Eugene was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of Defiance. He owned and operated Taylor Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service of Defiance for over 30 years. Eugene was a former member of the Eagles and Moose clubs of Defiance. He was previously scouted for Baseball and earned his nickname of "BubbleGum" as a result.
Eugene is survived by his brothers, Edward (Betty) Taylor, John (Martha) Taylor, Raymond (Sharon) Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Paul (Denise) Taylor, and James (Janet) Taylor, sisters, Janet Galither, and Sharon Wise, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lula Colwell, wife, Shelby Taylor, his twin sister, JoAnn Frederick, brothers, Harvey Taylor, Norman Taylor, and Richard Taylor, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Rev. David Brobston officiating.
Burial will take place in the Hoy Cemetery, Henry County, Ohio.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
