Ethelyne "Dee" M. Watson, age 86 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 20, 1939 to the late Mary Smith. On February 15, 1959 she married James "Jim" L. Watson, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2014.

Dee was a former member of Defiance Moose Lodge #2094 and Eagles #372. She was known as being a very kind and generous person who cherished her family. She babysat for many children over the years and taught them to swim in their backyard pool. Dee enjoyed reading Danielle Steel novels and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Dee is survived by her children, Greg (Jackie Arps) Watson of Defiance, and Lorie Henderson of Garrett, IN, two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband Jim, and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Dee will be laid to rest in Riverview Memory Gardens.
