Ethel V. Schroeder, 93, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday,  February 3, 2019 at Twin Rivers Care Center in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on January 25, 1926 to John and Ida (McKellips) Trubey in Defiance. In 1987 she married Royal Schroeder who preceded her in death in 2006. Ethel worked as an office manager at TM Cable for several years. Her hobbies were traveling, cooking, and baking, and everyone was a big fan of her homemade peach pies. Ethel loved the 4th of July, and holiday parties with family and friends.

Ethel will be sadly missed by her loving children, sons, Jerry L. (Gloria) Nixon of Sylvania, OH, Gregory D. (Deb) Nixon of Defiance, and daughter, Cheryl K. Black of Defiance, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and sister, Dorothy M. Herr of Defiance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her sisters, Marjorie J. Smart, Betty J. Belden, and Pearl E. Powell,  and grandchildren, Garrit Nixon, Mindy Alvarado, and Ryan Stiltner. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 9th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
