Elta Jean Hancock, 76, of Defiance, loving Mother and Grandmother, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital, Defiance, OH.

She was born on July 9, 1936 to Reid "Dutch" and Juanita (Breckheisen) Ream at Defiance, OH. Elta worked for Dinner Bell Foods, Defiance, retiring in 1990. On June 21, 1957 she married Hubert S. Hancock, who survives.

She was a member of VFW #3360 & AMVETS #1991 Auxillary, and Noble Twp Vol Fire Dept Auxillary.

Elta is survived by her loving spouse, Hubert S. Hancock of Defiance, OH, 4 sons, Ried B. "Tyke" (Ruth) Hancock of Leipsic, OH, Loren (Nancy) Hancock of Paulding, OH, Gerald "Jerry" (Chris) Hancock of Oakwood, OH, Ned (Cindy) Hancock of Defiance, OH, 2 daughters, Betty (Dr. Paul) Siler of Defiance, OH, Deb (Tim) Vargo of Defiance, OH, 17 Grandchildren, 30 Great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Susie (Ron) Goller of Defiance, OH, Rita (Gene) Steffen of Leipsic, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Verda Curl.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 01, 2012 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 11:00 am at the Hanenkrath - Clevenger - Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev Kevin King, officiating.
