Elizabeth E. Martinez, 86, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Henry County Hospital in Napoleon.
She was born in Leipsic, Ohio on August 26, 1939 to the late Glen and Agnes (Carver) Combs. She was married to Jose Martinez who preceded her in death.
Elizabeth was a member of Harvest Fellowship Church in Hamler, Ohio. She worked as a Home Health Nurse's Aide for several years. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, plants, writing and drawing children's books. She loved to refurbish toys and had a huge doll collection. Elizabeth loved to dress as Mrs. Claus for children's Christmas events. She will be greatly missed by so many that loved her.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Kathy Kestner, Karen (Bruce) Schwiebert, Karol (David) Swaninger, and Kelly Junge, and her sister, June Wimberley. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren; Amanda (Jose) Arias, Jacqueline (Kevin) Hoffman, Danielle (Tony) Smith, Jordan Kestner, Carrie (Anson) Wooten, Sarah Applegate, Joseph (Ali) Rosebrock, Heather (Wayne) Campbell, Haley (Corbin) Brosneck, Dillon (Faith) Schwiebert, Bethany (Scott) Veliquette, Andrea (Michael) Shatto, Tamera Kinder, Joshua Junge, Britni Junge, and Jessica Palte, 45 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Kevin Swaninger, sister Geraldine Kennedy, brother Glen Combs, and grandson Dustin Kinder.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 1-3 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor James Erven officiating. Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
