Eleanor K. Huner, 93, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at The Laurels of Defiance. She was born on June 26, 1922 to Walter and Anna (Wachtman) Thieroff in Defiance. Eleanor was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and helped with Defiance Rotary luncheon meetings. In 1942 she married Melvin Huner, who preceded her in death in 2004. After high school and during the war, for a brief time Eleanor worked at Zeller's. She enjoyed being a homemaker, and loved gardening and canning. Eleanor is survived by her loving family, sons David (JoAnn) Huner of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Benjamin (Roxanne) Huner of Sherwood, and Ronald  (Amy) Huner, of Defiance, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Walter Thieroff, husband Melvin Huner, brothers Elmer Thieroff and Don Thieroff, sister Dorothy Lykowski, and an infant grandson Seth Huner. Visitation will be held  from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday,  April 11, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00  am on Tuesday,  April 12, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance, with Rev.
