Eleanor A. "Ellie" Rassenfoss, age 90 of Waterville, Ohio, formerly of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 5, 2023 at Story Point Senior Living Center in Waterville, Ohio. She was born on April 28, 1932 in Defiance, Ohio to Edmund and Theresa (Desch) Fisher.
Ellie graduated from Defiance High School in 1950. On June 20, 1959 she married William "Bill" Rassenfoss. She was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church and was baptized there, attended school there through eighth grade, and married in that church. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, quilting and reading with Agatha Christie being her favorite author. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Eleanor will be sadly missed by her sons, David (Diane) Rassenfoss of Holland, Ohio, and Christopher Rassenfoss of Waterville, Ohio, her grandson, Jack Rassenfoss of Holland, Ohio, and her daughter-in-law, Paula Rassenfoss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Rassenfoss, and her son, Matthew Rassenfoss. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Fr. Jason D'Souza officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
The Rassenfoss family would like to give special thanks to the skilled and compassionate care givers at Story Point Senior Living Center and the staff of Elara Caring Hospice for helping Ellie navigate the last year of her life, and for making the final days of her life peaceful and comfortable.
