Eileen A. "Granny" Michael, 98, of Sherwood, passed away peacefully in her home on April 12, 2024, in Sherwood, OH. She was born on April 21, 1925, to Alva and Blanche (Fockler) Schaffer in Defiance, OH. In 1942 she married Philip Michael, who preceded her in death on August 5, 1980. Eileen was a housewife and homemaker and also a member of Bryan Eagles. She loved horses, music, bird watching, mushroom hunting and gardening. Eileen especially loved spending time with her family, and time with her grandchildren was especially important to her. Eileen is survived by her children, Ron Michael, Norma Williamson and Denny (Becky) Michael all of Sherwood, as well as a sister, Anna Mae (Bernard) Sines of Ney. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Michael, her parents Alva and Blanche Schaffer, as well as her children Rich and Clark Michael, and Joyce Vogelsong, granddaughters, Elysia Michael and Kris Michael, siblings, Louis and Clyde Schaffer, and Helen Long. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home on Jefferson Avenue with Celebrant Deb Miller, officiating. Burial will take place in Sherwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
