Eileen M. Stephens, 97 , of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, OH.

She was born on July 18, 1919 to Elmer and Nora (Dawald) Miller at Chili, IN. Eileen was married Charles E. Stephens, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of Denver Baptist Church, Denver IN, and attended First Baptist Church, Defiance.  Eileen owned and operated Eileen's Beauty Shop both in Fort Wayne IN and Defiance.  With her husband, they started the "C" Stephens Appliance store in Defiance, which still remains in the family today.  She enjoyed boating and fishing, especially at Coldwater Lake, MI, latchhooking in her later years, and gardening.  Eileen also enjoyed playing music on her accordion and the organ..

Eileen is survived by her son, Charles Stephens of Defiance, four grandchildren, Mary  Jackson, David Stephens, Mark (Vicki) Stephens, and Deborah (Brian) Flores, 8 Great Grandchildren, and a brother, Elmer (Joyce) Miller of Denver, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Betty Berger, and a brother, Loraine Miller.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from  9:00 am - 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am,with Rev. Ron Monteith, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.
