Edwin "Ed" F. Anderson, 74, of Defiance, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
He was born on June 8, 1941 to Gilford and Irene (Schortgen) Anderson in Defiance. Ed worked as a machine chief at Johns Manville in Defiance, and retired after 44 years of service.
Ed was an avid long distance runner, and ran the Boston Marathon and several other marathons. He was known to many as "Eddy the Running Machine". Ed volunteered at the Defiance Humane Society. He collected historic Chevrolets, and he loved to go camping.
Ed is survived by his son, Paul (Chelsie Eagleson) Anderson of Defiance, daughters, Michelle (Tony) Bassett of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, Celine (Michael) Grieselding of Toledo, Linette (Rob) Roberts of Maumee, Lori (Neal) Adams of Swanton, Heather (Aaron) Burkhart and Melissa Anderson, of Defiance, 16 Grandchildren, 1 Great-grandchild, brother, LaVon (Barb) Anderson of Wichita, Tx, sisters, Gail (Larry) Cameron, and Margene (George) Kruse, all of Defiance, and his beloved dog MoJo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilford and Irene Anderson.
A Memorial Service will be on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with calling hours from 12:00-2:00 pm.
