Edna May ( Mount) Solether, 87, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.
She was born on May 13, 1928 to Dorothy (Mount) Pendleton in Newark, Ohio. On June 9, 1952 she married Dee Kent Solether, who preceded her in death on October 23, 2006.
Edna was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Defiance. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan College of Education. Edna taught at Northeastern Local Schools for 19 years, retiring in 1990. She was past president of the Defiance County Retired Teachers Association and the Presbyterian Women's Club. Edna was a Cub Scout Den Leader, a member of the Lion's Club, 13 Club, and she volunteered in the School House at Sauder Village.
Edna will be sadly missed by her family; sons, Jay Solether of Bryan, Ohio, Craig (Tamela) Solether of Edgewood, New Mexico, Rev. Dr. Scott (Tamara) Solether of Great Bend, Kansas, and Foyle (Karen) Solether of Defiance, Grandchildren; Annelie, Brandon, Jay Dee, Kenton, Ashley, Lucas, Jenna, Matthew, Nicholos, and Joshua Solether, Cameron McCowan and Tiannah Sheets, 2 Step Great-grandchildren, sisters, Elizabeth (Stanley) Sandal of Nunica, Michigan, and Joyce (James) Young of Hebron, Ohio, and brother, Frank "Tom" (Margaret) Pendleton of Newark, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Mount-Pendleton, husband, Dee K. Solether, sisters, Betty Whyde, Katherine Whyde, Ruth Victor, brothers, Richard Mount, Timothy Pendleton, and Eber Pendleton.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Defiance, Ohio, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Lynn Bova officiating.
