Edna J. Beardsley, 89, of Hicksville, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on November 22, 1933 to Charles and Margaurite (Mawhorr) Vogelsong in Defiance County, Ohio. On November 13, 1952 she married James Lee Beardsley, who preceded her in death. Together they were blessed with seven children; Diane (Ron) Bierly of Defiance, Jim Beardsley of Colorado, Steve (Lynn) Beardsley of Defiance, Tony (Carol) Beardsley of Sherwood, OH,  Chris Beardsley of Defiance, Rick Beardsley of Sherwood, OH, and Edna (Eric) Dix of Quincy, IL. She also leaves behind her brother, Howard (Juanita) Vogelsong, and multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Beardsley, and several brothers and sisters.

Edna was devoted to her family and treasured her time spent as a homemaker. She loved music, playing cards, and family gatherings. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
