Edith M. Szabo, 72, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on July 5, 1943 to Floyd and Thelma (Garrison) Rittenhouse in Defiance, Ohio. On June 9, 1961 she married Larry Szabo, who resides in Defiance. Edith previously worked in the meat department at Goldenetz Supermarket before she worked in the cafeteria at Defiance Elementary School. She loved the kids, especially her grandson. Edith loved flowers, and enjoyed spending time gardening. Edith is survived by her loving spouse of 54 years, Larry L. Szabo, daughter, Kimberly (Ted) Draghiceanu, grandson, Christopher Greiner, all of Defiance, twin sister, Edna Seeds of Naples, Florida, and sister, Min (Cleon) Hohenberger of Defiance, and many loved nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Thelma Rittenhouse, son Gregory Szabo, grandson Gregory Lee, and brothers, Doyle Rittenhouse, Don Rittenhouse, and Floyd Ray Rittenhouse. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
