E Elaine Ramus, 92, of Defiance, passed away on  Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, OH.

She was born on July 5, 1921 to Frederick and Edna (Booher) Winkler in Defiance.  On October 10, 1940 Elaine married Harvey Maxwell Ramus and he passed away on January 19, 2005.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she held various offices and belonged to several of their organizations.  She was secretary, clerk and treasurer at Northeastern Local School (Tinora) 27 years retiring in 1981.  She was active in the Jewell American Legion Auxiliary holding various offices.  She loved baking cookies, knitting and crocheting..

Elaine is survived by her sons, Robert (Janet) Ramus of Hicksville, William (Eileen) Ramus of Westlake, grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Batiato, Stephanie (Tony) Wilhelm, Michael (Sarah M) Ramus, Sarah E Ramus, great grandchildren, Bryson, Peyton, & Kyle Batiato, Ethan, Gavin, & Isaac Wilhelm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Richard, Robert, Paul, and William Winkler.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday, January 24, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Graves officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the VFW and/or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
