Duane A. Darrah
Duane A. Darrah, 80, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born in Newton, Iowa on December 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Louis and Bernice (Schmitz) Darrah.
He was the husband of Margaret (Anderson) Darrah. They were married July 18, 1959.
He was a 1955 graduate of Iowa State School for the Deaf.
Duane had worked at The Crescent-News for 50 years. He started at the Crescent News on December 31, 1955 and also retired on December 31.
He released pigeons as the liberator for the Defiance Pigeon Club for 48 years.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Margaret,
son: Stephen (Cindy) Darrah of Jacksonville, Florida,
daughters: Tamara (Robert Maine) Ritz of Lebanon, Ohio, Suzanne (Kenneth) Bauer of Sherwood, Christine (Timothy) Wills of Elkhord, WI
brother: Louis 'Paul' Darrah of Newton, Iowa,
sisters: Jean Holmes of Newton, Iowa, Gloria Daughtrey of Newton, Iowa
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a sister Darlene Acuna
Services at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22nd, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating.
Visitation is Thursday 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner.
