Douglas K. Eshem Sr. Douglas K. Eshem Sr. , 81, of Defiance, Oh , passed away Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 at his home. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on February 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Robert and Mildred (Hanes) Eshem. Doug worked at Johns Manville in Defiance for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a life member of the Defiance Eagles, life member of VFW Post # 3360, and a member of the AMVETS Post 1991. He was a 1949 graduate of Portsmouth High School. He married Betty Adkins Eshem on Dec. 31, 1954 and she died May 28, 2011. Surviving are daughters: Judy (Michael) Sholl of Defiance, Marilyn Clay of Defiance, Janet Showman of Defiance, Barbara (Randy) Clady of Defiance, sisters: Sharon Lee of Portsmouth, Oh. brothers: Herman (Helen) Eshem of Portsmouth,Oh., Raymond (Sylvia) Eshem of Portsmouth, Oh. many grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Betty, sons: Douglas Jr. and Donald, a great grand daughter and several brothers and sisters. Services at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance, Oh. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24th. Visitation is Saturday 9-11 at Lawson-Roessner. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct honorary military rites. Suggested memorials are to the CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
