Doug E Fickel, 60, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the St Vincent Heart and Vascular Center at Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. He was born on December 27, 1961 to Rolland and Donna (Kammeyer) Fickel in Defiance.  After twenty years Doug and Alysia solidified their love for one another on April 25, 2015.  Alysia A (Esparza) Fickel survives her husband. Doug worked  for Sauder Woodworking in Archbold, Ohio. He was a Veteran of the Army Reserves and an Ordained Minister. He was also a member of Cornerstone Church in Toledo and the Defiance Moose Lodge #2094.  Doug was a musician and played various instruments.  He was well known in the area, playing in many bands.  He enjoyed all genres of music.  He enjoyed attending concerts throughout the years, Tom Petty was one of his favorite artists.  When not playing music, he could be found with his wife boating on lakes in Michigan and spending time with family and friends. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Alysia; his mother Donna Fickel; and his siblings, Kim (Dave) Alvarado of Defiance, Lynn Snyder of Sugar Creek, Ohio and  Mark (Deb) Fickel of Payson, Arizona.  He also leaves behind many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by father. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with  Pastor Vince Cantu, officiating.
