Dorothy J. Meyer Dorothy J. Meyer, 94, of Defiance passed away Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 at Brookview Healthcare Center. She was born in Delaware Township, on December 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late George and Bridget (Smith) Hetz. She was a member of St. John Catholic, Christian Mothers and Altar Society, CLC-55 Plus Club and St. Agnes Association. She married Clarence Meyer June 14, 1941. Clarence died Dec. 5, 2007. She had worked at St. John's Catholic school cafeteria retiring in 1981. Dorothy will be greatly missed by daughters: Sandra (Jim) Adams of Madison, WI, Jane (Jeff) Meyer of Sherwood, sons: Dave (Judy) Meyer of Defiance, Dan (Jean) Meyer of Akron, Bill (Marsha) Meyer of Defiance, Philip (Marcia) Meyer of Stryker, Bruce (Kerry) Meyer of Akron. daughter in law Freda Meyer of Defiance. sisters: Bernadine Shannon of Defiance, brother: Paul Hetz of Defiance She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, and 50 great grandchildren Preceded in death by her husband Clarence, son Gerald and brother Jim Hetz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th, with Father Eric Mueller officiating. Visitation is Friday 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home and Saturday 9-10 a.m. at the church. A Vigil Service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
