Dorothy J. Schelling, 84, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on November 27, 1930 to Leonard and Cecelia (Cussen) Mack in Defiance, Ohio. Dorothy was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. On February 23, 1952 she married Robert R. Schelling, who passed away on November 17, 1990. She worked in the Checking Department at First Federal Bank, retiring after 40 years of service. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors gardening, and doing yard work, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her son, Mark (Edith) Schelling, daughter, Susan (Harold) Steffel, grandchildren, Robert Schelling and Nichole Schelling, and brother, John (Barbara) Mack, all of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Lyle Mack, Don Mack, and Lavon Mack. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with a Rosary Service being held at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr. Eric Mueller officiating.
