Dorothy M. Hiler Mrs. Dorothy M. Hiler, age 96, of Defiance, Oh , passed away at 5:15 P:M , Friday, August 8th, 2008 at Harborside Healthcare Center. Mrs. Hiler was born in Defiance, Ohio on December 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Bessie (Himes) Smith She was a lifetime member of St. John Catholic Church Defiance, Oh, A member of the Christian Mothers and Altar Society. Dorothy attended St. John Catholic school and was a graduate of St. John Commercial school She was the widow of Edward O. Hiler. who died June 14, 1978. They were married in Jan. 10, 1953 She started work as a practical nurse at Defiance Hospital. In 1940 she worked as a nurse in Dr. DeMuth's office in Sherwood for six years and in 1947 she worked as a nurse for Dr. Harold Wenzinger in Defiance. Surviving are a Daughter: Mary Jo (Roger) Rau of Defiance, Oh Son: Joseph (Teresa) Hiler of Defiance, Oh Sister: Rita Voigt of Delphos, Oh. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews survive. Preceded in death by 5 brothers- Eugene, Donald, Robert, Richard and Walter Smith, 2 deceased sisters- Mary McRoberts and Margery Lashley A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, Oh. at 10:00 A:M on Tuesday, August 12th. Officiating will be Father Tim Kummerer. Friends are invited to call Monday 2-4 and 6-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. A 7:30 P:M Vigil Service will be Monday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.
