Dorothy V. Goodwin, 93, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Evergreen Healthcare Center in Montpelier. She was born on April 6, 1929, to John and Elizabeth (Bowsher) Steel in Defiance.  On June 29, 1946, she married Virgil Goodwin who preceded her in death on September 18, 2014. Dorothy worked at the former Zeller Corp in Defiance.  She enjoyed Bingo, going to casinos, and playing cards.  In the past she also enjoyed being outdoors camping and throwing horseshoes. Dorothy is survived by her children, Larry L (Linda) Goodwin, of Bryan, Diane (Carl) Keith of Defiance, Brenda (Terry) Ross of Montpelier.  She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Pat Brown of Holgate. She was preceded in death her parents; husband, Virgil F. Goodwin; sisters, Betty Spangler and Norma Ruen; brothers, Jim and John Steel; grandsons, Terry and Tony Ross and Jeff Lipp; and great-grandson, Brandon Kirkendall. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Nico Kinner, officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens.
