Obituary

Dorotha L. Aldrich Dorotha 'Dotty' L. Aldrich, 92, Defiance, passed away Monday, September 7th, 2015 at Twin Rivers Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Old Fort, Ohio on March 25, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Elmer G. and Effa C. (Stroup) Zimmerman. In 1943 she married Howard E. Aldrich Sr. who died in 1989. Dotty was an elementary teacher for 25 years, retiring in 1988 from Northeastern Local. She attended Ohio State University, Oregon State University and Defiance College. She received her Masters in Education from Bowling Green State University. She had been a delegate to the National 4-H Camp in Washington DC, a member of First Presbyterian Church where she had been an Elder and Trustee, a Regent of the Daughters of American Revolution, President of the American Association of University Women, Alpha Delta Kappa State Chaplain and Sgt. of Arms, Defiance County Retired Teachers association, Lion's club past secretary. She wrote the Tinora High School Alma Mater. She will be greatly missed by Daughters: Cheryl (Walter) Aldrich-McConnell of Randolph, MA, Carol (Bill) Aldrich-Gray of Toledo Sons: Howard (Penny) Aldrich Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC, Charles (fiance-Cathy) Aldrich of Alexandria, VA, Chris Aldrich of Worchester, MA, Craig (Linda) Aldrich of Houston TX, Curtis (Catherine) Aldrich of Defiance Brother: Robert (Ann) Zimmerman of Zepherhills, FL, sister-in-law Lois Ann Zimmerman of Defiance,13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Dotty and Howard also had several foster children who were loved throughout their lives. Preceded in death by her husband Howard and a brother John E. Zimmerman. Services at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11th. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. and Friday 10-11 a.m. before the services at Lawson-Roessner. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Suggested memorials are to the Young Peoples Theatre Guild of which Dorotha was a charter member. Condolences may be shared at www.lawsonroessner.com.
