Doris E. Hinesley, age 95, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Steel Health and Rehab in Defiance, Ohio.

She was born on July 28, 1931 to the late Ernest and Ethel (Kinneer) Hudkins in Bryan, Ohio. She was a 1949 graduate of Farmer High School and attended International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1951. On January 25, 1952 she married Charles "Russ" Hinesley, who preceded her in death on April 22, 2026.

Doris was a life member of Defiance VFW Auxiliary #3360, Eagles #372, and Moose Lodge #1246. She worked at Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon from 1957-1965 and ITT Automotive in Archbold from 1965 until her retirement in1987. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family at the lake. Doris was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Debra Hinesley of Farmer, OH, and Kim (Matt) Wurster of Defiance, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Judy Lorentz of Bryan, OH.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son David Hinesley, grandson Phillip Shock, son-in-law Matt Wurster, seven sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating.
