(Gall) Hodges
April 9, 1919 – November 4, 2012
Doris Marie (Gall) Hodges, died November 4, 2012 at Glen Park of
Defiance, Ohio. She was 93 years old. Doris was born on April 9,
1919, to Otis Eugene Gall and Mamie Idell White on a small farm near
Auburn, Indiana. She was the oldest of 4 children. She graduated from
St. Joe High School in St. Joe, Indiana in 1937. On May 5, 1938, she
married Harold Wallace Hodges in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Harold and Doris
lived in Defiance, Ohio, and raised two children, Gary Rex and Melanie
Sue.
Doris was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and
belonged to the Ruth Circle. She was also the oldest member of The
Thirteen Club. She held the offices of treasurer, secretary,
vice-president, and president.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wallace Hodges
(1977) and son, Gary Rex Hodges (2005). She is survived by a daughter,
Melanie Sue Cook and family Douglas Cook, Sr. and daughter, Alycia
Erin Cook. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Sue
Hodges and grandchildren, Richard Allen Hodges and Susan Hodges, Julie
Marie Janik and Clete Janik, and Jeremy Rex Hodges and step
grandchildren Douglas Cook, Jr and Jason Cook. Great grandchildren
are Kittorn Ora Hodges, Caleb Hodges, Luke Ethan Janik Janik, Cade
Simon Janik, and Colette Marie Janik, and step great grandchildren
Stephanie Eley, Faith Cook, Wyatt Cook, Jarett Cook, Cayden Cook, and
Kenden Cook, and a step great great granddaughter Lorilea Eley.
When Harold was alive, they enjoyed spending their time together
traveling and spending time with their friends. Doris enjoyed many
different crafts, cooking and baking, and taking care of her plants
and flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends,
neighbors, and relatives. She was visited often by her "little
friends", those that were friends of her son and daughter.
Memorials is Doris's memory should be made to Heartland Hospice, Glenn
Park, or Trinity United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November, 6th from 2-8 pm at
Hanenkrath Clevenger Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, November 7th at Trinity
United Methodist Church of Defiance, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Graves
officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
