Donna J. Smith, 81, of Hamler, Ohio,  passed away on Wednesday,  July 22, 2015 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. She was born on January 21, 1934 to Russell and Ruth (Schubert) Porter in Defiance County, Ohio. On August 4, 1952 she married William Smith, who proceeded her in death on August 12, 2009.  Donna was a member of Zion Church of God in Hamler, Ohio. She was the president of Wide Awake Club in Hamler, and the past president of Zion Church of God Ladies Group. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, making crafts, and spending time with family. Donna is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ray of North Baltimore, Ohio, Pamela (Thomas) Hurst of Napoleon, and Terry (Jon) Scheele of Hamler, sons, Garold "Gary" (Linda) Smith, and Gerald "Jerry" Smith , all of Hamler, 15 Grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren, sisters, Virginia Kern of Engelwood, Florida, Mary (Wilfred) Osborn of Bryan, and  Grace Baxter of Defiance, brothers, Ronald (Mary) Porter of Ayersville, and Leon Porter of Montgomery, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ruth Porter, husband, William Smith, sisters, Erma Klingshirn and Betty Clark, brothers, Melvin Porter and Robert Porter. Visitation will be held  from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, July 27, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Jerry Cooke officiating. Burial will follow at Ayersville Cemetery.
