Donald Mast Donald D. Mast, 84, Defiance, Ohio, died Saturday, November 26, 2011, at St Vincent Hospital in Toledo. He was born on April 14, 1927, in Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Gerald E. Mast and Susan Lola (Kern) Mast. He was married on June 30, 1947, to Virginia E. Ankney of Paulding County, Ohio. He was a life-long farmer and worked as a machinist at the Defiance Screw Machine Products Company and other companies for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, camping and playing his mandolin, guitar, banjo and violin. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Defiance. Surviving are Virginia, his wife of 64 years, daughter Patsy Mast of Bryan, and sons Dewey (Marsha) Mast of Defiance County and Walter (Marion) Mast of Loveland, Ohio; grandchildren Danielle (Mast) Carlisle of Springboro, Ryan Mast of Centerville, Greg Mast of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jennifer Mast of Cincinnati and Great-grandchildren Megan Carlisle and Ethan Mast. He is also survived by two sisters; Rose (Mast) Cantrell of Ottawa and Rita (Mast) Leininger of Defiance, and five brothers; Rudy of Sherwood, Dennis (Skip) of Defiance, Gary of Cecil, Marvin of Archbold and David of Defiance. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Betty and Dixie and three brothers, Richard, Francis (Curly) and Ray (Dean). Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 pm and Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home in Defiance. The funeral services will be at Lawson-Roessner at 2pm on Tuesday with interment following at Defiance Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the St. John's Lutheran in Defiance, Ohio.
