Donald Lee "Casey" Adkins, age 88, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born on February 17, 1935, to King and Celia Adkins in Pikeville, Kentucky. Casey proudly served in the US Army. He worked for General Motors in Defiance for over 25 years. On June 15, 1957, he married Joann Singleton, and she survives. Casey was a member of UAW Local #211. Casey adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and watching Nascar. Casey is survived by his loving spouse of 66 years, Joann, two daughters, Donna (Faron) Hubert of Hicksville, OH and Karen (Jeff) Justinger of Antwerp, OH, grandchildren, Lisa (Brad) Holsopple of West Unity, OH, Emily VanHorn of Bryan, OH, Darcie (Josh) Bell of North Canton, OH, Amber Justinger-Triggs, of Blissville, MI, Daniel Justinger of Hicksville, OH and Heather Justinger of Antwerp, OH, great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brendon, Caitlyn, Kendyl, Aubrey, Casey, Kailah and Sydni, and a sister, Bonnie Burgess of Pikeville, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
