Don C. Snyder
Don C. Snyder, 86, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at Mercy Hospital of Defiance.
He was born in Leipsic, Ohio on March 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Violet (Osenbaugh) Snyder.
On January 10,1948 Don married Luella Niese, who survives.
He was a U.S. Navy WW II veteran and served in the South Pacific.
Recently retiring in January 2011, Don was the local watchmaker and clock repairman for over 60 years. He was the owner of Snyder's Jewelry starting off in Ottawa and then opening one in Defiance in 1970. He always claimed to be the all-time champion in croquet and put-putt golf.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 64 years Luella,
daughters: Rebecca (Mark) Saman of Defiance, Pamela Venglarcik of Waterville, Oh.
sons: Don (Deb) Snyder of Defiance, Chuck Snyder of Defiance.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a son Jeffrey in infancy, his parents, four brothers, four grandchildren and a great grand son.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home this Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Services at Lawson-Roessner at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23rd, with Rev. Bryan Maxey and Father Todd Dominique officiating.
Burial will follow the ceremony at Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct military graveside services.
