Diana Marie Horzelski, 86, of Defiance, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2026. In her final hours, she was lovingly surrounded by her devoted husband, children, and grandchildren.

She was born on June 1, 1940, in Defiance, Ohio, to Wilfred and Georgia Dirr. She graduated from Defiance High School in 1958 before attending Capital University School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart, Bernie Horzelski, in 1962. While Bernie served in the military at Fort Hood in Texas, Diana worked as a nurse in a nearby VA hospital. Upon returning to Defiance, Ohio, they had two beautiful daughters and ran their own heating and air conditioning business together for over 30 years. Diana also served as a Lamaze instructor for 17 years, helping many expectant parents prepare for the arrival of their children.

Diana lived her life loving Jesus and loving her family. She spent countless hours faithfully supporting her grandchildren, attending their many sporting events and activities. She enjoyed many decades of summers at Coldwater Lake in Michigan, spending time with beloved family and lifelong friends.

Diana is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bernie Horzelski; her daughters, Debra (Jeff) Glock and Lisa (Dan) Anderson; her sisters, Nancy Deitrick, Connie Kellermyer, Becky (Dave) Schultz, and Julie Dirr; her grandchildren, Brandon (Lauren) Glock, Bryce (Carolyn) Glock, Fayth (Abram) Groves, Blaine Anderson, Grace (Bisher) Mansour, and Isaac Anderson; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She will forever be cherished and remembered as a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who clung to her faith in Jesus.

Diana’s immediate family is holding a private celebration of life—no public viewing or service will be held. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
