Dennis John Dunbar, age 58, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Thursday, April 30, 2015. He was born on October 19, 1956, in Defiance, Ohio to Ned and Dorothy (Webb) Dunbar.  He graduated in 1974 from Tinora High School, and in 1978 from Bowling Green State University.  Denny joined Marathon Oil right out of college and worked as a dedicated CPA at Marathon Oil for 37 years first in Findlay, Ohio and then for the past 25 years in Houston, Texas.  By far, his most important focus in his life were his daughters, Sarah and Jessica.  He passed away peacefully from a short illness surrounded by his family's love.  He had courage and kept his sense of humor until the end. Dennis is survived by two loving daughters, Sarah Dunbar of Houston, Texas and Jessica Dunbar of Austin, Texas who are the lights of his life.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Dr. David (Jean) Dunbar of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, sisters Diane Barton of Akron, Ohio, Debra (Doug) Hancock of Defiance, Ohio, and Dawn (Glenn) Sulpizio of Kalamazoo, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Robert Dunbar, grandparents, Forrest and Laurena Webb and Lawrence and Elise Dunbar.  He also leaves behind his friends at Marathon who were a second family to him in Houston. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 3, from 6-8 PM at Schaffer Funeral Home, 529 Jefferson Avenue, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will also be held at that location on Monday, May 4 at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Services will be officiated by Pastor Dave Brobston.  A celebration of life will be held at a future date for family and friends located in the Houston area. Dennis was a kind, and caring individual who consistently put the needs of others above his own. He enjoyed golf to the extent of his abilities.  He particularly enjoyed his leisure time with family and friends. He was loved by all those whose lives he touched. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
