Deloris Sue Hackworth, age 86 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on February 24, 1936 to the late Carl and Rebecca (King) Patrick in Salyersville, Kentucky. On October 12, 1952 she married Joe Hackworth, who survives.

Sue attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Defiance. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts, and reading her Bible. Sue was an excellent cook and loved spending time with her family.Sue was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and will sadly be missed by her family and friends. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Joe Hackworth of Defiance, her daughters; Brenda (Clayton) Vance of Cecil, OH, Glenda (Rex) Hoellrich of Ayersville, and Vickie Plummer of Napoleon, OH, and her son, Delbert (Karen) Hackworth of Defiance. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Tommie Jean (Raymond) Edwards of Westville, IL, and in-laws; Almeda Patrick, Rosella Pennington, and Ned and Carol Hackworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Hackworth, her sisters; Kathleen Hampton, Roma Lou Jordan and Yvonne Osborn, and brothers; Bill Ed Patrick and Clarence Patrick. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. George Goller officiating.
