Deborah "Deb" M. Shininger
Deb passed away peacefully, in her sleep, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at her home in Ney, Ohio.
She was born on November 24, 1964 to Robert and Stella (Singer) Shininger in Defiance.
Deb was a 1982 graduate of Fairview High School and a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a degree in Family and Social Work. Deb worked at Wauseon Health and Family Center for 5 years before joining the Sisters of St. Francis Perpetual Adoration, Mishawaka, IN for 7 years, worked at the Bryan Medical Group and lastly at Newcomer, Shaffer, Spangler and Breininger Law Office in Bryan.
Deb is survived by her best friend of 20 years Simone Phillips, her parents, Bob and Stella Shininger and brothers, Stephen (Nicole) Shininger of Mascoutah, IL, Timothy (Anne) Shininger of Fredonia, WI, Father Brian Shininger of Cupertino, CA, Douglas (Kelly) Shininger of Sherwood, OH, Gregory (Karah) Shininger of Defiance, OH, Luke (Kelly) Shininger of Defiance, OH, and sisters, Barbara (Steve) Coolman of Defiance, OH, Diane (Joseph) Hammon of Mark Center, OH, Rebecca (John) Mansel-Pleydell of Ney, OH. 64 nieces and nephews and many Aunts and Uncles.
Deb was preceded in death by her niece Monica Rose Shininger, grandparents Al and Frances Shininger and Carl and Agnes Singer, Aunts and Uncles William Singer, Lois Nagel, Jerry Meyer, Jack Oliver, Rita and Paul Shinners, Jackie Richards, Anna-Marie Shininger and cousin Joseph Meyer.
Deb was an active member of St. Isidore Parish, Marysdale and currently served as Secretary for St. Isidore Parish Council. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Church Choir.
One of her greatest joys was organizing a "Fall Barn Fest" for all the Shininger Family. For the past 12 years, she created plays and skits for the Fest, with costumes and family members involved, a potluck, huge straw maze, treasure hunts for the little ones and a hay ride! When one Fest was over she started working on the next one! She also loved helping with planting and fall harvest on the Shininger Farm and going on cruises with Simone and close friends.
Deb will be missed greatly by all who loved and knew her!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19th at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Marysdale. Fr. Brian Shininger LC will be the Main Celebrant and Con-Celebrating will be Fr. Robert Kill. Visitation for Deb will be 2-8 p.m. on Monday, April 18th at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home (1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, OH) and an hour before services at the church on Tuesday. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
