Deanna M. Peio, age 85 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Mercy Defiance Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1937 to the late Kenneth and Grace Wright in Toledo, Ohio. She was a 1955 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and attended college. On November 1, 1958 she married Howard F. Peio, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2009. Deanna loved the library and reading, and she enjoyed the Defiance High School Band of Class. She enjoyed her trips on AmTrak to Virginia to see her son. She was a member of the AmTrak Fan Club. Deanna was passionate about horses and owned a horse when she was younger. She was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she treasured her time spent taking care of her family. Deanna is survived by her children; Michael (Paula) Peio of Defiance, Elizabeth Peio of Waterville, OH, David Peio of Fredericksburg, VA, three grandchildren; Nickolas, and her favorite twins Michelle and Kendra, her great-grandchild Demaryius, her sister, Gloria (Larry) Barnes of Toledo, OH, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, and grandson, Anthony. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Memorials are suggested to Defiance Public Library, or Defiance High School Band.
