Dean Calvin Strahm, 91, of Defiance, passed away on  Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.

Dean was born on September 18, 1923 to Albert and Bessie (Young) Strahm in Kenton, Ohio. On March 3, 1946  he married Joanna (Hostettler) Strahm, who survives.
He served in the US Navy and was a World War II Veteran. Dean was a Teamster and a truck driver for many years. He was a life member of VFW Post #3360, and a 32nd Degree Mason at the Defiance Lodge. Dean was an avid golfer.

Dean is survived by his loving spouse Joanna, sons, Richard (Sue) Strahm of Georgetown, TX, and Philip (Diane) Strahm of Knoxville, TN, daughters, Sally (Gary) Gerken of Hamler, and Georgia McMahan of Knoxville, TN, brother, Arthur (Dorothy) Strahm of California, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bessie Strahm, daughter, Sue Ann Hinshaw,  granddaughters, Carly Tenpenny and Tiffany Strahm, and sister Eleanor Frazier.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with Military Honors accorded by VFW Post #3360. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating.
