Dawn M. Carpenter, age 57 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her family by her side. She was born on September 8, 1966 to Larry and Gail (Anderson) Cameron in Defiance, Ohio. Dawn was a 1985 graduate of Tinora High School, and proudly earned her license from Hondros College for Real Estate. On November 30, 1984 she married Robert Carpenter Sr., who survives.

Dawn attended Defiance Church of the Nazarene. She was a co-founder of Realty Five of Defiance and enjoyed working there for 17 years. Dawn was a member of Defiance Eagles #372 and Elks Lodge #147. She enjoyed fishing, painting, bird watching and traveling. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was extremely important to her. Dawn loved her dogs Imari, Bella and Mac. Dawn was truly kind and caring to everyone, and an inspiration to her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends and colleagues. Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Robert Carpenter, Sr., her mother Gail Cameron, daughter, Brittany (Nathan) Jones, and her son, Robert Carpenter, Jr., all of Defiance. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Carter Jones, Kelton Jones, Morgan Carpenter and Jaden Jones, her sister, Lisa Cameron, brothers, Larry (Jami) Cameron and Rex (Jen) Cameron, and mother-in-law, Mary Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry G. Cameron, and father-in-law, Bernard "Fat" Carpenter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the funeral home, with Pastor Scott Williams officiating. Dawn will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Victory Center at Defiance ProMedica Hospital.
