David Michael "Mike" Short, 65, of Defiance OH, departed this world for the next on May 5, 2018 from his home in Defiance, Ohio.

Mike was born in Whittier, California on November 17, 1952 and grew up in southern Indiana and northwest Ohio. He married Marilyn (Potts) Short on March 22, 1974.

A 1971 graduate of Patrick Henry High School in Hamler, Ohio, Mike advanced to a 42-year career with General Motors, retiring in 2014. An avid fisherman, Mike was a member of the Fort Defiance Bass Anglers and loved being out on the water.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, David and Sarah. Mike leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Marilyn Jo; daughter, Allison (Josh) Oakes; grandchildren, Eli, Kenzie, and Wyatt Oakes; sisters, Karen Markward and Cyndy (Steve) Hoops; and numerous relatives and other dear friends.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, May 9 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.
