David L. Mohr, 71, of Defiance, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
He was born July 21, 1946, to John and Violet (Varner) Mohr in Defiance, Ohio. On January 14, 1977, he married Doreen Lindeman, who survives.
Dave proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Defiance High School and Bowling Green State University. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Defiance Eagles, AMVETS Post 1991 and the Ney Jaycees.
Dave was an investigator for Defiance County Job and Family Services, retiring in 2003. After retirement, he worked at the Defiance Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen; daughters, Amber (Geoffrey) Dietz of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Emily (Benjamin) Flowers, Defiance; sons, Jacob (Jessica) Mohr of Van Wert, Ohio, and Luke (Carol) Mohr Hagerstown, Indiana; a brother, John Mohr; sisters, Judy Shininger of Lebanon, Ohio, and Becky Mohr, Defiance, Ohio; grandchildren, Joseph Dietz, Rachel Dietz, William Dietz, Julia Dietz, Xavier Dietz, Matthias Dietz, Caleb Mohr, Andrew Mohr, Patrick Mohr and Grace Mohr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 10, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church at The Bend, with Father Robert Kill officiating.
Visitation for Dave will be held Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. AMVETS Post 1991 will hold a military rites service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
A Rosary prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
Suggested memorials are to St. Isidore Catholic Church, CHP Defiance Area In-patient Hospice Center and the Cherry Street Mission.
