David J. Hohenberger, age 72 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Center. He was born on June 4, 1950 to the late Forest and Louise (Dailey) Hohenberger in Defiance, Ohio. On June 12, 1970 he married Bev (Loeffler) Hohenberger who resides in Defiance. Dave was a member of The Friends of NRA, The American Red Cross, and The Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers Association. He volunteered as a Scout Master for The Boy Scouts of America. He worked for 38 years for the Ohio Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1997. Dave enjoyed camping, swimming, woodcarving, woodworking, and watching TV. He treasured his time spent with his family, friends, scouts, and all his dogs. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bev Hohenberger of Defiance, his daughters, Rhonda (Jay) Taylor of Hicksville, and Jenny (Tyson) Wasilewski of Defiance. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Matthew (Collette) Foss, Anthony Foss, Samantha Foss, Rebecca Foss, Jacob Wasilewski, Dillon Hand, and Destiney Hand, his great-grandson, Alexander, his sisters; Ann (Jerry) Linebrink and Mary (Steve) Porter, his brother-in-law, AJ (Linda) Loeffler, and extended family, Courtney, Amora, Zoey, Ariel, Zayden and Willow Casares.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Hohenberger and Louise (Ray) Dailey, and his in-laws, Arnie and Pat Loeffler. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jeff  Davis will be officiating.
