Consuelo  Sanchez, 84, of Defiance, passed away on  Saturday, October 12, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on May 1, 1929 to Agapito and Sofia (Martinez) Hernandez in Chicago, IL.

In 1952 she married Jesse P. Sanchez.

Consuelo was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.  She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.  Consuelo enjoyed cooking and caring for others.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 1/2 years, Jesse, daughter, Maria (Mike) Smith of Defiance,  son, Jesse Sanchez Jr. of Defiance, son, Jose (Angie) Sanchez of Keller, TX, son, Mario Sanchez of Defiance,  daughter, Letty Rankin of Defiance, son, Victor (Tammy) Sanchez of Defiance, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brothers, Jose Hernandez of Live Oak, CA, Alfredo Hernandez of Beaumont, TX,  Ruben Hernandez of McAllen, TX, Antonio Hernandez of Beaumont, TX, sisters, Amparo Herrera of Durango, Mexico, Maria Luz Barron of McAllen, TX, Concepcion Hardy of Kirbyville, TX, and her beloved dog, Marvin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home with a vigil service being held at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the funeral home with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to be made to the family.
