Consuelo 'Connie' P. Garza Consuelo 'Connie' P. Garza, 99, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at the Laurels of Defiance. She was born in Hutto, Texas on July 12, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Sostones and Beatrice (Bernal) Prieto. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She was a homemaker, a wonderful baker and cook, a very prayerful woman of great faith, and an avid reader. She married Bruno B. Garza Oct. 15, 1937 and he died August 30, 1998. It is with heaviness in our hearts, yet a rejoicing spirit as she begins her new life with God in the "Home" she has longed for so long to be with those family members who have died before her: husband Bruno Garza, daughter Virginia Garza, sons Richard, Robert and Daniel, 4 great grandchildren, brother John Prieto and sister Fanny Prieto. Survivng are sons: Frank Garza of Ridgeville Corners, Bruno (Jean) Garza of Defiance, 26 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. John Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1st, with Father John Stites officiating. Visitation is Friday 2-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-10:40 a.m. at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Suggested memorials are to St. John Catholic Church.
