Clinton "Bud" W. Throne, age 93 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on November 22, 1930 to Clinton and Florence (Gearhart) Throne in Williams County, Ohio. His mother passed away when he was two years old, and he was raised by a wonderful stepmother, Willo Throne. On July 17, 1949 he married Doris Limber, who preceded him in death on March 27, 2009. Bud was a member of the Defiance Moose Lodge #2094, Bryan Eagles #2233, and Evansport Fox Club. For over 66 years, he was a proud member of Local 50 Toledo Plumbers and Pipefitters. Bud was well-known for his work as a plumber for many years. He was an "outdoorsman" and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking care of his lawn. Bud was quite the dancer in his younger years. He was always a "people person" and loved to talk with everyone. He will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends and colleagues. Bud is survived by his children, Sandy (Chuck) McCartney of Defiance, Bill (Jayne) Throne of Napoleon, and Pam (Fred) Schaufele of Evansport, eight grandchildren; David, Jennifer, Amy, Stacy, Michael, Raechel, Heather and Nick, twelve great-grandchildren; Alexandra, Logan, Madison, Garrett, Heidi, Ethan, Clayton, Faith, Whitney, Lillie, Carter and Conner, his niece, Jacki Wells, and sister-in-law, Wilma Limber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Throne, his sister, Joyce Herr, and half brother, Woodrow Davis. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S.Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evansport Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Hospice Center, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Evansport Fire Department. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
