Claude "Junior" Massengale, 84, of Bryan, passed away on Monday, November  9, 2015 at Genesis Healthcare Center in Bryan, Ohio. He was born on October 25, 1931 to William and Nora (Clark) Massengale in Myra, Texas. On August 26, 1955  he married Katherine (Van Dyke) Massengale, who proceeded him in death on November 20, 1996. Junior was a member of Restoration Fellowship Church in Bryan. He owned and operated "Trees-R-Us" Tree Service, and has done tree service work for over 60 years. Junior  enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, traveling, spending time with family, and playing the slot machines in Las Vegas. He is survived by his children, Pennie and David Jones of Bryan, Rick and Denise Massengale of Defiance, Rhonda and Ken McDaniel of Somerset, Kentucky, Lester and Pong Massengale of Huntington Beach, California, Jeffrey Massengale of Findlay, Ohio, and Terry and Todd Rader of New Castle, Indiana, 26 Grandchildren, 40 Great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Step Children;  Vickie Akers of New Castle, Indiana, Connie Baker of Lewisville, Indiana, and Alfred and Beth Conner of Oakwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nora Massengale, wife, Katherine Rose Massengale, and daughter, Rosemary Akery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Williams County.
