Clara Mae Greenler, age 100, of Defiance, went home to Heaven on May 24, 2026 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance. She was still living at home until early May when her health would no longer allow it. Clara Mae was the second daughter of Forrest and Marion (Dennis) Jones, born on April 6, 1926 in Paulding County, Ohio. On November 26, 1955, she was married to Orville E. Greenler at St. Stephen Lutheran Church South Ridge, by Rev. Harold C. Meister.
Clara is survived by her son, Richard Greenler of Defiance, sisters Doris (Harvey) Jessup of Ft. Wayne, IN; Dorthea (Clifford) Klopfenstein of Bartlett, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clara Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Marion Jones, her husband of 33 years, Orville E. Greenler (1/27/89), and sons Fredrick Charles Greenler (10/19/63) and Thomas Mark Greenler (1/4/2006); her sisters Alice (Milo) Gerken and Maxine (Wayne) Urschler, and sister-in-law and her husband, Marvelle and Bob Pracht.
She was a graduate of Hicksville High School, Class of 1944. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the Defiance County Courthouse and Uhlman's Department Store in Defiance.
Clara Mae was an active and faithful member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, South Ridge, its Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, and church choir.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 am, with one hour of visitation before the service at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 30304 New Bavaria Road, Defiance, OH, 43512-8942. Clara Mae will be laid to rest at St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery following the service.
