Obituary

Cheree Lynn (Wolfrum) Lee, 66, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on June 1st, 2026, in Defiance, Ohio. Cheree was born on November 14th, 1959, to James "Jim" and Martha (McCague) Wolfrum in Defiance, Ohio.

Cheree graduated in the top 10 of her class at Tinora High School in 1977 as a junior. She went on to attend Sienna Heights and Defiance College, where she took courses in computer science and mathematics. In her adult years, she finished the Six Sigma Black Belt certification. She worked at Powers and Sons for over 25 years, where she retired as a Quality Control Engineer. While not yet ready to retire completely, she took the opportunity to work for a newer business in Defiance, Ohio, TPAM. She found herself in the right environment at TPAM where she was not only challenged but also surrounded by great people. In her spare time, she spent countless hours in her gardens planting flowers. She enjoyed her yearly trips to Capeli’s Garden Center with her daughter, Santana. Cheree also enjoyed her time getting coffee with her son, Isaac. She took up bike riding a few years ago and enjoyed the peacefulness. She was a member of the Defiance Moose Lodge and Eagles, where she made many friends over the years.

Although Cheree prided herself on her work, her greatest accomplishments in life were those of her two children, Santana and Isaac. She was truly their biggest supporter in everything they did. She was a talented seamstress who made everything from baby clothes to their Halloween costumes growing up. She never missed a game during their sports career throughout high school. She was someone they could rely on well into adulthood, and that is something that is irreplaceable.

Later in life, Cheree was blessed abundantly with ten beautiful grandchildren. She tried her hardest to be at all of their events. Whether it be school plays or the many sports that kept her very busy, she wouldn’t have had it any other way. She enjoyed every chance she got with all of them together, especially Christmas. They were truly her most precious gifts.

Cheree is survived by her children, Santana (Jon) Moore, Springfield, Ohio, and Isaac (Kristen) Lee of Defiance. Her ten grandchildren are Addison, Madelyn, Jackson, and Henry Lee, JonMichael, Elizabeth, Louie, Lexy, Leo, and Ivy- Rose Moore. She is also survived by her siblings Cindi (Tony) Cain of Anderson, IN, Mark Wolfrum of Defiance, OH, Matt (Jen) Wolfrum of Brookville, IN, and Jenifer Wolfrum of Defiance, OH, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Martha Wolfrum, sister-in-law, Sarah Wolfrum, and an infant son, Jeremy Lee.

Cheree will be missed by all who knew her, especially her children and grandchildren.

Cheree’s family is honoring her wishes and will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.

The family is requesting that, instead of flowers or other memorial items, donations be made in her memory to the Tinora Athletic Boosters through their Venmo Account @TinoraAthletic-Boosters and add a description of “In Memory of Cheree Lee / Track & Field”.
