Charles W. Hardy, age 88 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on July 15, 1935 to the late Andrew and Mary (Cooley) Hardy in Defiance, Ohio. Charles attended Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren. He was a lifelong farmer and lived on the homestead all his life. Charles had a true passion for working on his farm. He loved his collection of tractors, and spending time with his family and friends. Charles is survived by his brothers, Glen Hardy of Defiance, Orville (Linda) Hardy of Sherwood, OH, and Jim (Ann) Hardy of Montpelier, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Paul and Wayne Hardy, and his sister, Pearl Hardy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren in Defiance, with Rev. Benjamin Polzin officiating. One hour of visitation will be held before the service at the church. Charles will be laid to rest at Evansport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Hospice Center.
