Charles F. Goliver, 67, of Defiance, passed away on December 23, 2012 at the Brookview Health Care Center.
He was born on February 13, 1945 to Fred and Marie (Thomas) Goliver at Lima, OH. Charles worked as a Fire Fighter & EMT for the Defiance Fire Department. On July 24, 1965 he married Paulene Hohenberger. Charles and Paulene lived in Defiance, Ohio.
Charlie was the Captain of the Defiance Firefighters & also an EMT retiring in 1993. Was on the South Richland Volunteer Fire Dept., formerly worked at Dinner Bell Foods in Archbold, Arnie Loeffler Construction. He taught Regional Fire Training at Bowling Green & State classes in Columbus and was a instructor and salesman at Hurst Tools-Jaws of Life. He was a member of the Defiance Masons Lodge, & Zenobia Shrine holding various offices, the Defiance Eagle Aerie 372, past president and trustee, and a member of the Grand Rapids Sportsmen's Club.
]When Charlie was not spending time with his family, he enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, golf, wood working, cooking, collecting John Deere buckles, & model tractors and spending time with his many friends. He was a member of the I.A.F.F. International Association of Fire Fighters, Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers, supported Make a Wish Foundation and he and his son Shawn were involved with the Toledo Extreme Home Make Over.
Charles is survived by his loving spouse of 47 years, Paulene of Defiance, OH, sons, Dr. Chris A (Barb) Goliver of Bowling Green, OH, & Shawn M. (Andrea) Goliver of Defiance, OH, Grandchildren; Jake & Katie Goliver of Bowling Green, OH, Elijah & Isaiah Goliver of Defiance, OH,
He was preceded in death by father, Fred Goliver, mother, Marie Goliver and his in-laws, Richard (Helen) Hohenberger.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the services at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio with a 8 pm fireman's walk through.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, 11:00 am at the Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Ed Briggeman & Deacon Jeff Mayer, officiating. A lunch in Charlie's honor will be held after the memorial service at the Eagle's Hall.
