Catherine L. Schlegel Catherine L. Schlegel, 77, of Defiance, passed away at 5:40 A:M , Tuesday, January 13th, 2009 at Mercy Hospital of Defiance. She was born in Defiance County, on December 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Leonard H. and Mary E. (Brenner) Coressel. Catherine married Robert F. Schlegel in May of 1960 and he died in 1970. She was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where she was a former sacristan, member of the Altar Society and member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She had worked over 40 years at Kentucky Fried Chicken, since it's opening in Defiance, retiring in 2006. Surviving are a Daughter: Elizabeth (Betty) Schlegel of Defiance. a Sister: Janet (Leo) Gustwiller of Wauseon, Oh., Three Brothers: Francis (Marlene) Coressel and Michael Coressel both of Archbold, Oh. and Dennis (Martha) Coressel of Defiance. Preceded in death by two daughters who died in infancy, her parents, a sister Cecelia Gustwiller and a brother Leonard (Bud) Coressel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Michael's Catholic Church, at 10:00 A:M on Saturday, January 17th, with Father Dave Tscherne officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday 2-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 P:M Rosary Service on Friday. Interment is at St. Michael's Cemetery .
