Carolyn Ann Flory, age 75 of Defiance, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center. She was born on March 8, 1947 to the late Charles and Annabelle (Pfahler) Boff in Defiance, Ohio. Carolyn was a 1965 graduate of Tinora High School. On August 21, 1965 she married Thomas Flory, who survives. Carolyn was a faithful and dedicated member of St. John's Catholic Church. She taught Catechism and was a member of Altar Rosary Society. She was a former 4-H Advisor, member of Homemaker's Club, and was a master gardener. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and always had an abundant vegetable garden. Carolyn loved cooking, baking, decorating for every holiday, and was famous for her delicious apple pie. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas Flory of Defiance, her children, Mark (Laurie) Flory of Jewell, Matt (Melanie) Flory of Defiance, Eric (Tammy) Flory of Jewell, Christina (Jasen) Stork of Defiance, and Chad (Amber) Flory of Jewell. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her siblings, Richard (Margaret) Boff, Roger Boff, Paul (Rita) Boff, Michael (Bonnie) Boff, Suzanne (Richard) Sheets, Joyce (Wayne) Coressel, all of Defiance, Nancy (Gene) Sheets of Cecil, and her sister-in-law, Gladys Boff of Georgetown, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Boff, daughter-in-law, Jina Flory, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Boff. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Rosary Service will begin at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Catholic Church, CHP Defiance Hospice, or Jewell Fire Department.
