Carlos M. Celestino Carlos M. Celestino, 78, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, June 1st, 2013 surrounded by his family. Carlos was born November 4, 1934 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Andrea (Martinez) Celestino. He was married to Theresa Ramon on August 28, 1953. She predeceased him on January 26, 2013. Carlos had been a resident of Defiance since 1965. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. He worked for General Motors for 28 years. He was an Army Veteran and was honorably discharged in 1953. A member of the VFW, UAW 211 and AMVETS Post 1991. He enjoyed travel, his grandchildren and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. Surviving are nine children; Carlos (Catherine) Celestino Jr. of Arlington, Va., Irene (Oscar) Flores of San Antonio, Texas, Richard R. Celestino and Rudy (Darlene) Celestino all of Defiance, Henry (Veronica Mata) Celestino of Saginaw, MI, Julia Celestino and David (Penny) Celestino all of Toledo, Raquel (Michael) Korty of Chester, Virginia and Joseph M. Celestino of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are four sisters: Maria, Jesus, Socorro and Juanita Celestino of Monterrey, Mexico. Three brothers: Juan and Jose (Pepe) Celestino of Monterrey, Mexico, Miguel Celestino of San Antonio, Texas He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister Justa Celestino. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, Oh. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5th, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call Tuesday 2-8 at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct honorary military graveside rites.
